Kings Inch ‘8YO’ Single Malt Scotch Whiskey

Tasting Notes
Technical Details
Vintage Description

The nose is bright and inviting, offering aromas of ripe orchard fruits, vanilla cream, honey, and soft oak. On the palate, the whisky is smooth and rounded, with flavors of baked apple, pear, toffee, and gentle citrus zest. Oak maturation contributes subtle spice notes of cinnamon and nutmeg without overwhelming the malt character. The mouthfeel is silky and balanced, maintaining freshness alongside depth. The finish is long and warming, with lingering vanilla, malt sweetness, and light toasted oak.

The Estate

Kings Inch Distillery is a modern Glasgow distillery bringing single malt whisky production back to Scotland’s largest city after decades without urban distilling. Kings Inch focuses on contemporary Lowland-style whisky—smooth, fruit-driven, and accessible—while honoring traditional Scotch production methods.

Production Process

Kings Inch 8 Year Old Single Malt is distilled from Scottish malted barley in traditional copper pot stills. The whisky is matured for eight years primarily in American oak casks, allowing time for integration of vanilla, caramel, and oak spice while preserving the spirit’s fruit-forward character. Careful cask selection and blending ensure balance and consistency across batches. Bottling at 46% ABV helps maintain aromatic intensity and texture.

Serving Suggestions

Best enjoyed neat in a Glencairn or tulip glass to appreciate its layered aromas. Adding a few drops of water can open the fruit and vanilla notes further. It also works well in refined whisky cocktails such as a Scotch Old Fashioned or Rob Roy where its smooth Lowland profile remains expressive.
