Vintage Description

This ‘Grand Ardèche’ opens with aromas of ripe apple, pear, and white peach, layered with notes of vanilla, toasted almond, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied with rich orchard fruit balanced by fresh acidity. A creamy texture is complemented by well-integrated oak influence. Hints of citrus zest and brioche add complexity. The finish is long, round, and gently toasty.

The Estate

Maison Louis Latour, founded in 1797 and still family owned, expanded into the Ardèche in the 1970s to craft high-quality Chardonnay using Burgundian techniques at a more accessible price point. ‘Grand Ardèche’ is the flagship of this project, produced entirely from estate vineyards. The wine reflects classic Burgundian structure applied to southern French terroir.

Wine Making

Chardonnay grapes are sourced from estate vineyards in the Ardèche, selected for limestone-rich soils similar to Burgundy. Fermentation and aging occur in French oak barrels, with regular bâtonnage to enhance texture and integration. The wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation to soften acidity and build roundness. The winemaking approach mirrors Burgundian tradition while highlighting the warmth and ripeness of the region.

Food Suggestions

This Chardonnay pairs well with roasted chicken, grilled seafood, and creamy pasta dishes. Its richness also complements lobster, scallops, and dishes with butter-based sauces. For cheese, opt for brie, camembert, or lightly aged cow’s milk cheeses.
