The Buchholz 2022 Chardonnay reveals intense straw-yellow colour with light golden reflections. On the nose there’s yellow fruit—apple and pear—layered with subtle white pepper, cardamom and a fine stony minerality. The palate feels medium- to full-bodied with round texture, bright acidity and a lingering clean finish that highlights the altitude-cooled purity of the fruit.
Located in the heart of Italy’s Alto Adige region, the Peter Zemmer Estate was founded in 1928 and is still family-run in the third generation. The estate’s vineyards span an impressive altitude range—from approximately 220 m to 1,030 m above sea level—giving the winery access to a wide variety of microclimates and soil types.
In production the grapes come from Buchholz parcels on terraced slopes, hand-harvested, macerated briefly on skins to build texture, gently pressed, fermented partly in large old wood barrels or large format wood vats, then matured to preserve minerality and finesse.
Pairs well with richer white-meat dishes.
