The Riserva Furggl 2021 offers a deep ruby-purple core and rich nose of dark berries, violet, black pepper and subtle leather/forest-floor layers. On the palate it is structured and elegant: generous dark fruit, firm yet polished tannins, crisp acidity and a long, nuanced finish marked by spice and minerality.
Located in the heart of Italy’s Alto Adige region, the Peter Zemmer Estate was founded in 1928 and is still family-run in the third generation. The estate’s vineyards span an impressive altitude range—from approximately 220 m to 1,030 m above sea level—giving the winery access to a wide variety of microclimates and soil types.
The grapes come from the Furggl hillside around Auer/Ora, where clay-rich soils and altitude contribute to the wine’s depth and intensity; the winemaking includes fermentation, then ageing for 15/10 months in barriques and tonneaux before bottling.
Pairs well with bold red meat roasts, game meats, and braised meats. It also complements dishes such as veal tafelspitz, ossobuco, and Tyrolean goulash.
