The Estate

Schug Carneros Estate Winery is situated on a 50-acre site in the Carneros Appellation, south-west of the town of Sonoma. Vineyards of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay surround the winery, while other grapes are bought in from highly respected and experienced growers. The Carneros District lies at the south end of both the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. An area of low hills and flatlands, the region is profoundly affected by cool marine air from the bay and the Pacific Ocean.

Wine Making

This supple and generous Cabernet Sauvignon blend is crafted in the classic Bordeaux style that Walter Schug pioneered in the 1970’s as winemaker of Joseph Phelps Vineyards.

Food Suggestions

Pairs well with hearty stews, wild mushrooms and grilled meats.

Wine.com – 93

"The 2019 Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is substantial on the palate and lively in the finish. TASTING NOTES: This wine shows bold black fruits with an excellent oak complement. Enjoy it with a grilled, well-marbled ribeye with fresh rosemary and crushed black peppercorns."

Wine Enthusiast – 93

"Fragrant pine and cedar aromas lead to pure red and black cherry flavors and accents of rosemary and mint in this uncomplicated, well-balanced and drinkable wine. A medium body and light tannins provide a good texture that makes you want to keep sipping."

James Suckling – 92

"This shows some spicy and earthy aromas along with ripe dark berries, leafy herbs, walnut and tobacco. Nicely polished and smooth with a full body and some depth to the fruit character. Tannins are firm yet ripe and creamy. Try now, but better in a year or two."
