Cherry-picked by Mathilde Chapoutier Selection, the Château des Ferrages domain is in Pourcieux, halfway between Aix-en- Provence and Saint-Maximin, in the prime plots of the Sainte-Victoire appellation. The coolness of the weather is one of its blessings. Whilst rosé wine was already being made in this domain, hillside plots were quickly identified to produce red wine, and others still for white. Two Sélections Parcellaires have emerged from these lands, now applying biodynamic farming principles. 28 hectares of vines produce three cuvées which are carefully aged in the Château des Ferrages cellars. Modern vinification methods combined with traditional methods of aging are the hallmark of this brand. Every glass reveals a little taste of mystery.
The Côtes de Provence wines draw their strength of character from a sun-drenched land at the foothills of the Sainte-Victoire Mountain. Halfway between Aix-en-Provece and Saint-Maximin, Château des Ferrages is one of the four fortresses that shaped the history of Pourcieux. Surrounded by wooded parklands, this traditional Renaissance building overlooked the village. Most of the building has been lost over time and only the tower and a few architectural remains still exist today. Its most valuable treasure, however, is undoubtedly the wine domaine that bears its name.
