This taut red offers a fine mix of cherry and raspberry fruit, with earth, licorice and savory mineral accents. The tannins are resonant, and the finish features lingering echoes of fruit and mineral.

The Estate

Basilica del Cortaccio, an elite vineyard in Cafaggio, comprises 4.2 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, with sensorial attributes that reflect a fine ‘terroir’, evoking the variety of origin. Produced for the first time in 1989, the Basilica del Cortaccio variety is grown according to the principles of organic farming.

Wine Making

Manual harvesting of the grapes in the first ten days of October. Fermentation at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks static decantation of the wine, aging in large Slavonian oak barrels for 12 months before bottling.

Food Suggestions

Pairs well with roasted red meat, seasoned Pecorino cheese, Salame Toscano and Fiorentina steak.
