Enticing aromas of black cherries, blackberries, and figs are complemented by floral hints of violet, with subtle notes of vanilla and cedar. The first sip reveals a silky texture, with delicate layers that give way to well-structured, dusty tannins, offering both elegance and depth. As the wine opens up, it showcases a complex and long finish, with lingering notes of lilac, anise, and a subtle peppery spice that adds a final flourish. This wine is crafted to be enjoyed now, yet its robust structure ensures it will develop even greater complexity and character if cellared through 2035.
The Ghost Block Vineyard is one of our most unique and sought-after sites. Resting against a gentle slope of Yountville Hill, a mountaintop that once towered above the Stags Leap District in the Vaca Mountains. Approximately eight million years ago, a seismic event caused a section of the Vacas to tumble, shifting a peak to the west.
This repositioned peak, now known as Yountville Hill, lies on its side, unveiling distinctive vertical exposure of tertiary volcanic formations. Positioned facing East, it basks in the mid-morning and afternoon sunlight, while benefiting from cooling effects in the evening and early morning fog, influenced by the marine air from San Pablo Bay. The wine showcases the complexity of the site’s rich geological history, enhanced by our continuous organic farming practices
Pairs well with red meats, venison and deer based dishes, as well as mature or hard cheese.
