Château St Jacques d’Albas

About Château St Jacques d'Albas

Château St Jacques d’Albas is an estate winery located in the Minervois appellation of the Languedoc, in southern France, nestled between the Montagne Noire foothills and the Mediterranean. The estate dates back centuries, with its origins tied to a historic abbey and agricultural property, giving it a deep-rooted connection to the region’s winemaking past. Today, the château combines this heritage with a modern vision, producing wines that reflect both tradition and the evolving quality of the Minervois.

The vineyards are planted across gently sloping terraces surrounding the estate, where clay-limestone soils mixed with rocky alluvial deposits provide excellent drainage and structure. The Mediterranean climate delivers warm, sunny days balanced by cooling influences from elevation and regional winds, helping preserve freshness in the grapes. The estate focuses on classic southern French varieties including Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, and Mourvèdre, with many vines reaching maturity and contributing depth and concentration to the wines.
