Napa Highlands is a premium Napa Valley wine brand produced by Smith-Anderson Wine Group, a family-owned company based in Napa, California, with more than four decades of winemaking experience. Created to showcase the diversity of Napa Valley, Napa Highlands focuses on producing limited-release wines that express the region’s most celebrated growing areas while remaining accessible to everyday Napa wine enthusiasts. The brand reflects Smith-Anderson’s philosophy of combining exceptional vineyard sourcing with traditional winemaking to deliver wines that consistently overperform.
Rather than relying on a single estate vineyard, Napa Highlands sources fruit from some of Napa Valley’s most renowned appellations, stretching from the cool southern vineyards of Carneros for Chardonnay to the sun-drenched vineyards of Rutherford, Oakville, St. Helena, and other premier districts for Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux varieties. This broad vineyard network allows the winemaking team to select fruit from the finest blocks each vintage, capturing the distinct personalities of Napa’s diverse soils—from gravelly alluvial fans to volcanic hillsides—and microclimates. Smith-Anderson also emphasizes organic, biodynamic, and sustainable farming practices throughout its portfolio whenever possible, reinforcing a long-term commitment to vineyard health and environmental stewardship.

Today, the wines are crafted under the direction of Mike Blom, whose career spans more than 40 years in the Napa Valley wine industry. A graduate of UC Davis with a degree in Biochemistry, Blom has held winemaking and vineyard leadership roles at respected wineries including Grgich Hills, Peju Province, Firestone Vineyards, and Golden State Vintners before joining Smith-Anderson Wine Group. His extensive experience in both vineyard management and cellar operations continues to shape Napa Highlands into a brand that reflects the classic character, diversity, and enduring reputation of Napa Valley.
