Reviews

This six-year rye whiskey opens with inviting aromas of hazelnut shortbread, warm spice, and gentle earthy rye character. On the palate, rich rye spice melds with notes of brown butter, caramelized sugar, and toasted oak. The mouthfeel is smooth yet expressive, revealing layers of nutty complexity and lingering cinnamon warmth. Hints of vanilla and dried fruit balance the spice with a subtle sweetness. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving a warm, aromatic impression that keeps the rye character front and center.

Rye Mash
The Estate

Ransom Spirits is celebrated for its artisanal pot still-produced spirits, honoring tradition while pushing creative boundaries. Their rye whiskey exemplifies meticulous craft rooted in sustainable, small-batch methods.

Production Process

A portion of the whiskey begins as column-distilled base sourced from Lawrenceburg, with 24% re-distilled in hand-hammered copper stills on-site. The spirit is then aged six years in Pinot Noir casks, lending elegance and complexity. Organic farming and careful distillation practices underscore the brand’s commitment to quality.

Serving Suggestions

Serve neat or with a drop of water to accentuate spice and oak elements. This six-year rye also shines in classic rye cocktails like a Sazerac or Manhattan, where its depth and richness elevate the drink.
