Raised in Philadelphia and having worked as a Winemaker, Sommelier and Certified Wine Specialist, Richard was introduced to the inner workings of a wine cellar by his father when he was ten years old. With twenty-six years of experience as a third generation winemaker, he has worked closely with distributors, producers, and growers, crafting and selling premium wines. Most of his early knowledge of wine comes from family techniques and methods that have been passed down from generation to generation. Over the years, Richard honed in on his own style and philosophy to winemaking. Using sustainably-farmed and organic grapes to make sure “what comes from the vineyard, ends up in the bottle.” Besides working in the wine industry, Richard also grew up in an artistic family with his two parents being Opera singers and sister an accomplished writer. Richard graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts with a BFA as a Sculptor Major, and this is also where he met his now wife Holly Tenaglia, also a painter and educator. They currently live in Hatfield, Pennsylvania with their son Leonardo and are expecting another child on the way.
