Pinot Noir
Burgundy Côte de Beaune France Europe
Tasting Notes
Technical Details
Vintage Description

This Chorey-les-Beaune shows bright and expressive red fruit—think cherry, raspberry—with occasional deeper berry tones. There’s a savoury edge, sometimes a whisper of iron or red-stone minerality, and mild spice (especially on vintages with some oak involvement). Tannins are present but polished, giving structure without heaviness. The overall feel is elegant, somewhat more robust than lighter Burgundy villages, yet still offering charm and finesse.

Pinot Noir grape blend.
The Estate

Alex Gambal is an American-born winemaker in Burgundy, France, who founded his winery in 1997. The winery is known for its terroir-driven wines and dedication to organic and biodynamic practices, focusing on minimal intervention to highlight the character of each appellation.

Wine Making

Grapes are hand-harvested from vines farmed organically/bio in many recent vintages. Vinification tends to follow traditional Burgundy practice: relatively long cuvaison, gentle extraction, with a portion of new French oak depending on vintage (for example, the 2012 involved ~33% new oak) and ageing often around 12-14 months. Minimal intervention in terms of filtration/faning; the goal is to let vineyard character shine.

Food Suggestions

Pairs well with richer poultry such as roasted duck or chicken with herbs, veal, or lighter cuts of red meat. Also works well with earthy mushroom-based dishes, game birds, or even beef tartare. The wine’s fruit, acidity, and moderate tannin allow it to balance both richer gravies and freshness in sauces.
