Au Bon Climat ‘Isabelle’ California Pinot Noir

Tasting Notes
Technical Details
Attributes

The 2019 Pinot Noir Isabelle, resourced from six different vineyards and four different AVAs, is named in honor of Jim Clendenen’s daughter. It is a plump, rounded, beautifully textured Pinot displaying lots of red berry fruits, spice, notes of flowers, new leather, and sandalwood, along with supple tannins, and plenty of mid-palate depth. Wonderfully balanced, it is charming, classic, and impeccably made.

100% Pinot Noir grape blend.
This wine contains allergens, sulfites.
The Estate

Au Bon Climat has made Pinot Noir in Santa Barbara County for 40 years. Our winemaking philosophy and winemaking practices have changed little over that time. Older equipment has been replaced by newer technologies, but better equipment improved the wines and allowed for gentler processing.

Wine Making

We still hand pick and sort heavily in the vineyard. We still use open top fermenters allowing us to “punch down” by hand. Our top Pinot Noirs are never pumped, only moved by gravity. These high end Pinots, like the Isabelle, are aged in new Francois Freres oak barrels. Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir is basically the same since 1982, only better.

Food Suggestions

Pairs well with beef, veal, deer, venison, and poultry dishes.
