A Godello that combines plush, soft mango fruit with a chalky, mineral-like quality. The grapes for this wine are sourced from a unique, sandy-soil plot in the castle grounds of Villafranca del Bierzo. Raúl loves the tropical flavours that emerge from Godello planted on sand.
Castro Ventosa was founded by the Perez family in 1752 and the family owns the estate ever since. The Perez family owns 75 hectares of Mencía vineyards in Bierzo making them the biggest owners of this varietal within the Bierzo D.O.
Farmed organic, the whole cluster pressed, the must is left overnight to clarify, fermented in 500 liters barrels. Some steel and some new/used barrel used for aging.
Pairs well with pasta, seafood dishes, white fishm and rice dishes.
