A very expressive wine, with a lively nose and great aromatic potential, with hints of wild berries, cherry, raspberry and blackberry.
Castro Ventosa was founded by the Perez family in 1752 and the family owns the estate ever since. The Perez family owns 75 hectares of Mencía vineyards in Bierzo making them the biggest owners of this varietal within the Bierzo D.O.
The grapes were hand-picked, extended maceration and fermentation in 500 liters French oak barrels. Half of the production is fermented with the full cluster in oak barrels. Aged for just over a year in 225 and 500 liters French oak barrels. Production 9000 bottles or 750 cases made.
Pairs well with veal, deer, venison, and poultry dishes.
