Chateau Le Roc Bordeaux Rouge

Tasting Notes
Technical Details
Attributes

Nice inviting red color. Bouquet is pronounced with cherries, earth and maybe mint. Medium body, quite dry, light side on the tannins and acidity. Pretty smooth finish and the dry earth hangs around. Not all the complex but quite nice as long as you are looking for dry.

Cab Franc, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cab Sauvignon grape blend.
This wine contains allergens, sulfites.

The Estate

In the 1950s, Giulio Gambelli, Sangiovese guru and one of the great interpreters of Tuscany’s grapes, joined Eleonora Ruspoli Berlingieri in making and bottling the first vintage of Chianti Classico Lilliano, in 1958. Nowadays, agronomist Stefano Porcinai is responsible for looking after the estate’s vineyards, while prize-winning oenologist Lorenzo Landi takes care of and selects the wines.

Wine Making

Chateau Le Roc lies in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers, the relatively flat lowland part of Bordeaux between the Gironde and Dordogne rivers. This region rarely produces prestigious wines, but it is known for some terrific values and this is one of them. Cédric Landié owns the 60-hectare property on clay and siliceous soil. The vineyard was planted 25 years ago with 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc.

Food Suggestions

Pairs well with beef, veal, deer, venison, and poultry dishes.
