The Estate

Viñedos del Contino, founded in 1973, was the first single-estate winery in Rioja, setting a benchmark for estate-driven wines in the region. Located in Rioja Alavesa along the Ebro River, the estate is owned by the historic CVNE group, one of Spain’s most respected producers. Contino focuses on expressing vineyard character through careful selection, traditional methods, and modern precision.

Wine Making

Fruit is hand-harvested from estate vineyards and gently pressed to preserve purity. Fermentation occurs primarily in stainless steel with a portion aged in oak barrels to add texture and complexity. The wine spends time on fine lees, enhancing mouthfeel and aromatic depth. The style balances freshness with subtle oak integration.

Food Suggestions

Pairs well with grilled seafood, roasted chicken, and creamy pasta dishes. It also complements Mediterranean cuisine such as herb-roasted vegetables and shellfish-based dishes.
