The fruit is firmly in dates-and-raisins territory, with bass notes of black olive brine, mocha, dried potpourri and butterscotch oak influence. Still-powerful tannins retain a firm grip on the palate—and there’s a big lift of acidity—but the fruit weight doesn’t quite match. It is in a bit of an awkward stage at the moment.
