Vintage Description

The Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru opens with refined aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry layered with violet, spice, and subtle oak. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with precise red fruit framed by firm, fine-grained tannins. A mineral backbone provides structure and tension. Hints of clove, cedar, and forest floor add depth. The finish is long, elegant, and structured, with notable aging potential.

Pinot Noir grape blend.

The Estate

Maison Albert Bichot is one of Burgundy’s most respected houses, founded in 1831 and deeply involved in the annual Hospices de Beaune auction. The “Cuvée Rameau Lamarosse” originates from Premier Cru vineyards in Pernand-Vergelesses and is vinified and aged by Albert Bichot following the auction. These cuvées represent a combination of historic Burgundian philanthropy and meticulous, terroir-driven élevage.

Wine Making

Fruit originates from Premier Cru parcels within Pernand-Vergelesses and is sold at the Hospices de Beaune auction. After purchase, the wine is aged by Maison Albert Bichot, typically in French oak barrels with a significant portion of new oak depending on the cuvée and vintage. Careful élevage enhances structure while preserving site expression. The 2022 vintage is noted for balance, ripe fruit, and strong aging capacity.

Food Suggestions

This Premier Cru Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with duck, roasted lamb, and game birds. Its structure also complements mushroom-based dishes and refined French cuisine. Ideal for cellaring or premium wine programs featuring Burgundy by the bottle.
