This rose pours to a salmon pink with violet undertones. The nose is an intense bouquet, associating the light milky tones of summer fruits with livelier nuances such as redcurrants. On the other hand, on the palate there is a soft on the attack, full bodied, with appetizing notes of citrus and grapefruit zest; creating a crisp round acidity that flows into a long finish.
The Estate
Domaine Crochet is located in the famous appellation of Sancerre, in the village of Bue, one of the recognized top areas for the productions of Sancerre. The property is atop a limestone ridge with exposure of the grapes to a North South direction. The vineyards are planted in Sauvignon Blanc and a small amount of Pinot Noir. Crochet is a well-known name in Sancerre, and sometimes you will see other bottling’s from other branches of this family.
Wine Making
The harvest at Crochet is all done by hand, and cellar work in the stainless temperature-controlled cellars is the showcase of the fine vineyard soils and old vines of the vineyards. Oak is not used in these wines as the focus is to reflect the bright clean sauvignon from the vineyards.
Food Suggestions
Pairs well with summer-time dishes (white meat, platter of “charcuterie”, salads, melon, Asian dishes, grills, etc.). Also great for pizza evenings, as well as pasta.
