Reviews

Aromas of dried cherry, plum, and fig are layered with notes of leather, cedar, and spice. The palate reveals mature red fruit flavors supported by earthy undertones and subtle oak. Medium-bodied with refined tannins, the wine shows elegance and structure. Fresh acidity provides balance and lift. The finish is long and complex with lingering spice and dried fruit notes.

Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, & Mazuelo grape blend.

The Estate

López de Heredia is one of Rioja’s most revered traditional producers, founded in 1877 and still family-operated today. The Viña Tondonia vineyard is among the most iconic sites in Rioja Alta, producing wines known worldwide for their longevity and classic style. The winery follows time-honored methods, including long barrel aging and extended bottle maturation.

Wine Making

Fermentation takes place in large oak vats using traditional methods. The wine is aged for several years in American oak barrels followed by extended bottle aging prior to release. Natural clarification methods are used instead of heavy filtration. The approach emphasizes longevity and traditional Rioja expression.

Food Suggestions

Pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, braised beef, or grilled pork. It also complements aged cheeses and classic Spanish dishes.
