Reviews

The Madame Veuve Point Meursault 2022 presents as a radiant gold-colored Chardonnay, clear and bright with silvery highlights. On the nose, it shows aromas of toasted nuts (hazelnut, almond), butter, honey, framed by floral notes (white blossoms, elderflower, hawthorn) and a mineral edge—think flint or silex—that gives depth. On the palate it has a rich, generous texture: creamy and round (“riche et gras”) yet balanced by lively acidity. Flavors replicate the nose’s profile—nut, grilled bread or toast, honeyed tones—all combining to a finish that retains freshness. The wine is positioned by the estate as one of their “grand vin de garde” meaning it’s built to age.

The Estate

JEANNE MARIE POINT was born on February 5th, 1877, in Serrières (71). Her parents were winegrowers and farmers in Vergisson (71). She started to learn this work at a very early age by observing her parents and by helping them in the vineyards since she was an only child.

Wine Making

Madame Veuve Point’s Meursault hails from vineyards planted on classic Meursault soils: calc-marls, limestone, particularly the “calcaire dur de Comblanchien” in places, which imparts minerality and structure.

Food Suggestions

Pairs well with richer white-meat dishes and seafood, especially when a creamy or buttery element is involved. Roasted or grilled lobster, scallops with beurre blanc, or grilled langoustines, for instance. Poultry in cream sauces (chicken, veal) would work nicely. It also pairs with more decadent dishes like foie gras and even blue cheese, where the wine’s richness can match the intensity of the food without being overwhelmed.
