Vintage Description

The wine has a deep purplish-ruby color (“robe pourpre profonde”) and delivers an intense nose of cherry, strawberry, and blackcurrant fruit, which then evolves with time into more mature, layered aromas—plums, and even macerated fruit. As it opens further, one might detect more rustic and tertiary notes: leather, truffle, game or undergrowth, perhaps a hint of wild herbs. On the palate it is robust and full-bodied, showing good structure with solid “mâche” (chew/tannic grip), well-balanced by acidity, and a finishing impression of power and elegance.

Pinot Noir grape blend.
The Estate

JEANNE MARIE POINT was born on February 5th, 1877, in Serrières (71). Her parents were winegrowers and farmers in Vergisson (71). She started to learn this work at a very early age by observing her parents and by helping them in the vineyards since she was an only child.

Wine Making

The wine is vinified in Beaune using carefully selected Pinot Noir from the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. One-third of its maturation (élevage) is done in oak barrels, which contributes to its roundness and aromatic complexity without overtly masking the terroir’s natural expression.

Food Suggestions

Pairs well with roasted or grilled red meats (e.g. lamb, beef roast), magret de canard (duck breast), or even more intense game meats.
