Bursting with aromas of blackberry jam and spice. This wine caresses the palate with layers of fruit and anise and leather. The wine has a dark purple color and exhibits full body with moderate tannins. The finish is long and spicy.
Mill Creek Vineyards and Winery is a small, estate winery, still owned and operated by the founding Kreck family. Vineyards were first planted in 1965 and the winery was established in 1974. The award-winning wines are produced from grapes grown on the winery estate, the family home in Alexander Valley, and a few select neighboring vineyards.
Harvest was early in the morning so the grapes were delivered to the winery while cold. The clusters were 100% destemmed and filled into temperature controlled tanks where they are allowed to soak on their skins for 5 days. The wine was then fermented where it was pumped over two to three times per day and then the new wine was drained and pressed. It was then aged in French oak for over a year.
Pairs well with beef, lamb, deer, venison, and poultry dishes.
