On the nose, this natural wine is bursting with white flowers and zest. On the palette, it is light and refreshing. Indeed, a perfect wine to enjoy outdoors on a Spring day.
Pittnauer is a small, family-owned operation in Burgenland that specializes in native Austrian varietals. They operate organically and biodynamically, and with very little intervention in the cellar. All of their wines are slowly and carefully coaxed into their fullest expressions, with quality taking precedence over speed.
The vines are planted in heavy clay soils of the Altenberg (Gols) vineyard, are hand harvested in September and undergo intensive sorting. Spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts under temperature control and then aged in barrique for 8 months.
Pairs well with pork, rich fish such as tuna and salmon, shellfish, poultry, lean fish, as well as mild and soft cheeses.
