In many ways this is textbook Barbera: rich, powerful dark fruit, macerated strawberry, a hint of cocoa and smoky leather, with present but well-integrated tannic structure. There’s plenty of intensity along with lively acidity which freshens the experience considerably. The wine is excellent now but would reveal more complexity with age.
