Robust yet plush, this medium-bodied red blend features bright fruit notes of cherry and plum, with hints of vanilla and leather. Ripe berry flavors are front and center with elegantly structured tannins and vibrant acidity, creating exceptional balance.
Originally planted in 1860 by Dr. George Crane, three generations of the Salvestrin Family have meticulously and sustainably farmed this 26 acre vineyard for 81 harvests. Being sensitive to the environment and the surrounding community by following organic guidelines, we consistently create handcrafted wines that are fruit forward, elegant, balanced and memorably world class.
Each of these components is crafted very carefully so our final blend reflects the very best quality that the estate Dr. Crane vineyard has to offer. The Retaggio is aged for a total of 16 months in mostly neutral oak, with a few new French barrels thrown in for complexity and depth.
Pairs well with beef, lamb, veal, and poultry dishes.
