Adega Viúva Gomes is a historic family winery located in Almoçageme, Colares, within the Lisboa/Vinho Regional Colares wine-growing area of Portugal. Founded in 1808, the winery sits in one of Europe’s most unique and ancient viticultural regions, where sandy soils stretch from the Sintra Hills to the Atlantic Ocean, historically protecting deep-rooted vines from phylloxera and preserving rare indigenous traditions.
Viúva Gomes is run today by the fourth and fifth generations of winemakers (father José Baeta and son Diogo Antunes Ataíde Baeta), combining deep respect for heritage with creative, terroir-focused winemaking. The estate produces distinctive Colares wines — including reds from Ramisco and lively whites from Malvasia de Colares — often showcasing saline, bright acidity and expressive character driven by the maritime climate and sandy vineyard soils.
Beyond wine production, Adega Viúva Gomes is celebrated for its wine tourism and educational experiences, offering tastings, tours, and events in its historic 1808 cellar, inviting visitors to connect with the narrative of one of Portugal’s most storied and rare wine regions.
