Casal de Armán is a historic family estate located in the Ribeiro DO of Galicia, in northwestern Spain, near the town of Ribadavia, one of the region’s oldest winemaking centers. The estate is centered around a traditional Galician manor house dating back to the 18th century, reflecting the deep agricultural roots of the area. Today, the winery is run by the Rodríguez family, who have dedicated themselves to preserving Ribeiro’s heritage while elevating the region’s reputation through carefully farmed vineyards and expressive wines.
The vineyards are planted on hillside terraces overlooking the valleys of the Avia, Miño, and Arnoia rivers, where granite-based soils mixed with sand and clay provide excellent drainage and promote mineral-driven wines. Ribeiro’s Atlantic-influenced climate, marked by moderate temperatures and steady rainfall, supports slow ripening and bright natural acidity. Casal de Armán focuses heavily on indigenous Galician varieties such as Treixadura, the flagship white grape of Ribeiro, along with Godello, Albariño, Loureira, and Torrontés, which together produce aromatic, textured, and highly food-friendly wines.
Winemaking emphasizes preserving the purity of these native grapes while showcasing the distinctive character of Ribeiro terroir. White wines are typically fermented in stainless steel to maintain freshness and aromatic intensity, with select cuvées spending time on lees to enhance body and complexity. The resulting style is vibrant and structured, marked by citrus, orchard fruit, floral notes, and a mineral backbone reflective of the region’s granite soils.
