St. Supéry Estate Vineyards & Winery is located in the heart of Rutherford in Napa Valley, California, one of the region’s most historic and prestigious growing areas. The winery was founded in 1982 and takes its name from Robert Skalli’s mother, Beatrice St. Supéry, reflecting the Skalli family’s French winemaking heritage and commitment to estate-driven Napa wines. From the beginning, the vision was to craft wines that express the diversity of Napa Valley through carefully farmed estate vineyards.
The winery farms two distinctive estate properties, most notably the Dollarhide Estate Vineyard, located in the eastern hills of Napa Valley near Lake Hennessey, just northeast of Rutherford. This expansive vineyard spans more than 1,500 acres, with roughly 500 acres planted to vines, making it one of the largest contiguous estate vineyards in Napa Valley. The site ranges from 600 to 1,100 feet in elevation, where volcanic soils, hillside exposures, and cooler mountain air create ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Malbec, and other Bordeaux varieties. St. Supéry is recognized for its leadership in sustainable farming; both of its Napa Valley vineyards are Napa Green certified, reflecting a long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship.
Winemaking at St. Supéry focuses on expressing the individuality of each estate vineyard. Sauvignon Blanc is a hallmark of the estate, often fermented in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak to balance freshness with texture. Red wines, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, benefit from Napa’s warm days and cool nights, producing ripe fruit with structured tannins and layered complexity. Careful vineyard selection, gentle extraction, and thoughtful barrel aging help maintain balance while showcasing the vineyard character.
Today the winery operates under the global family-owned wine group Maison Skalli and continues to emphasize estate viticulture and Napa Valley terroir. The winemaking team builds on decades of vineyard knowledge to craft polished, expressive wines that highlight both the Rutherford benchland character and the mountain influence of the Dollarhide Estate. St. Supéry remains one of Napa Valley’s leading examples of estate-driven Bordeaux varietal winemaking.
