Alex Gambal Wines, founded in 1997 by American-born Alex Gambal in Beaune, Burgundy, has become a respected name in the region for its dedication to terroir-driven winemaking. After moving to Burgundy in the early 1990s, Gambal immersed himself in the culture, studying at the Lycée Viticole in Beaune and working with well-known figures before establishing his own négociant house.
Over time, he transitioned from sourcing grapes to cultivating estate vineyards, adopting organic and biodynamic practices to ensure purity and authenticity in his wines. The estate’s philosophy centers on letting the land and vintage speak, employing indigenous yeasts and minimal intervention to highlight the character of each appellation. In 2019, the Boisset family acquired the domaine, integrating it into their portfolio while preserving the integrity and style that Gambal built. Today, Alex Gambal Wines continues to produce elegant, expressive Burgundies that reflect both the region’s tradition and the founder’s vision.
