Azienda Agricola Rodaro

About Azienda Agricola Rodaro

Azienda Agricola Rodaro is a family-owned estate located in the Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, northeastern Italy, near the Slovenian border. The winery is based in the hills surrounding Spessa di Cividale, an area long recognized for producing some of Italy’s most refined white wines. The Rodaro family has been farming this land since the late 1800s, with generations dedicated to expressing the unique character of Friuli’s hillside vineyards.

The estate’s vineyards are planted on the region’s prized “ponca” soils, a mix of marl and sandstone that crumbles easily and provides excellent drainage while retaining enough moisture to sustain the vines. These soils are key to Friuli’s identity, contributing to wines with pronounced minerality, structure, and aromatic complexity. The rolling hills and varied elevations, combined with cooling influences from the Alps and Adriatic Sea, create ideal conditions for slow, balanced ripening. Rodaro focuses on both indigenous and international varieties, including Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia Istriana, Sauvignon Blanc, and Refosco, all of which thrive in this terroir.
